We’ve seen our fair share of celebrity charity auctions here at eBay Giving Works. We pride ourselves with how easy we’ve made it for stars like Scarlett Johansson, Christina Aguilera, and Ke$ha to use our platform when fundraising for nonprofits and charities they support.
Following in their footsteps, another big name in the entertainment industry has been making waves on eBay Giving Works. Lady Gaga recently partnered with our website to hold fundraising for nonprofits, putting the wardrobe she wore for her much talked-about Harper’s Bazaar cover photo shoot on auction until February 28, 2014. The proceeds of the event will benefit her charity, the Born This Way Foundation.
Founded in 2011, the Born This Way Foundation works toward fostering social acceptance for everyone, regardless of race, gender, nationality, or affiliation. It believes in creating a society where everyone’s differences are embraced and the uniqueness of each individual is celebrated—a kinder, braver world.
The foundation’s activities include the Born Brave Bus Tour, which traveled to 23 events in 18 cities last year. The 2013 tour is estimated to have touched approximately 9,000 youth from different walks of life. The foundation partnered with different groups working to address LGBT issues, civic engagement, mental health, and mentoring.
So far, Lady Gaga’s charity auction on our platform has been going well. Excitement among bidders to win a piece of fashion worn by the inimitable icon herself caused prices for some of the pieces to spike above the $2,000 threshold within the first 24 hours. Prices for signed posters haven’t been spared from the active bid war either.
We don’t want anyone to miss out on this exciting event, so if you’re a fan of Gaga and want to bring home something she’s worn, then head on over to her eBay store “Lady Gaga in Bazaar.” If you don’t have the money to spend on the big-ticket items she’s put up for auction, but still want to support her foundation, you can also make a donation through the PayPal option on our website.
